Free Ilkley Business Forum events for members

BADCOT has joined the Ilkley Business Forum (IBF) as an affiliate member - making most of the organisation's business events and activities free to our members.

The recently established IBF - which held its first Summer Showcase fair in June (see below) - runs events such as lectures, seminars and workshops to help businesses based in or with connections to the LS29 area. BADCOT members will only be charged if there is a fee for IBF members also.

There is also a reciprocal arrangement in place whereby IBF members will be invited to participate in BADCOT events, such as the annual Burley Christmas Market.

For further information contact BADCOT Chairman Les Cousins (Beacon Antiques of Menston), or BADCOT Committee member Hendrik le Roux (Queen's Head, Burley) and check the Events page. (April 2010)

IBF Summer Showcase

The first ever Summer Showcase event, held on Sat, 19 June, is reported to have gone very well. More than 1000 visitors went to the Kings Hall and Winter Gardens to see what 61 exhibitors had to offer.

Amanda Miller of Fancy That From Wharfedale said she found the event "particularly successful" and that the volume of sales and quality of attendees was much higher than anticipated. As well as attracting two business proposals, the showcase also provided an opportunity to inform people where products could be bought in the future and to get their feedback. "We would definitely like to attend next year's event," she added.

The 2011 showcase is planned for June 18. (July 2010)

Buzz at Burley Summer Festival 09

HUNDREDS of people enjoyed Burley's first ever Summer Festival, designed to bring together all sections of the local community.

BADCOT made full use of the 10-day event to introduce itself to the public and encourage people to shop and do business locally.

In addition to sponsoring the launch drinks in the Roundhouse, we ran a successful Open for Business Day - on which members gave potential customers a special welcome onto their premises.

Wharfedale Flowers' arranging demonstrations proved very popular, as did the coffee and cakes handed out by engineering firm, Cyrus Enterprises and the taster beauty treatments offered by the Snooti a Gouti salon. The Don't miss out on the Burley Summer Festival! See Events
